Claflin Alumni Artists Showcase Links to a Legacy
Thursday January 7th, 2010 through Wednesday March 31st, 2010
During the 1950s, the late Arthur Rose began his quest to raise the profile of African American artists in the state of South Carolina. A graduate of Claflin University, Mr. Rose persuaded his alma mater to once again offer art as a major, providing what was, at the time, the only opportunity for black students in South Carolina to major in art. He led the University’s art department for four decades, teaching and influencing artists both past and present. Evidence of his efforts can now be seen at the Arthur Rose Museum, on campus in Orangeburg. “Links to a Legacy” features works by Mr. Rose and his students, on view through March as part of the University’s 140th anniversary celebration.

Framed for murders he didn't commit and falsely accused of stealing hundreds of millions of dollars, Brent Lucas is alone and on the run. Wounded and fleeing from both the FBI and his would-be killers, Brent turns to his ex-fiancée, a beautiful cop assigned to a federal anti-terrorism taskforce. Convincing her of his innocence, he must now survive long enough to prevent a strange alliance of Christian and Muslim terrorists.
